Spatial Resolution / Image Composing I
Building the Cantata Workspace
The input files are: ruler.viff and moon.viff.
The image ruler.viff has dimensions: 512 pixels in width
and 14 pixels in height:
The file moon.viff is a 512 x 512 image.
- Build a ruler of width 100 applying the operator
Extract on the image ruler.viff. As the extraction is done only
in the width dimension, you do not need to select the other dimensions.
- Insert the 100-width ruler image in the moon image at the desired
coordinate using the operator
Inset. You can simultaneously display the moon image and use
the mouse to point to the desired position to read the coordinate.
- Build the lower resolution image using the operator
Resample
with a Width and Height magnification factors of 0.5.
The image will be reduced to half its dimensions in both width and
height directions.
- Insert the ruler image in the reduced moon image at the desired
coordinate.
Exercises
- Experiment with the
Resample
operator to generate images with different resolutions.
