DFT: Pulse Width and Zero-crossings (Bandwidth)
Building the Cantata Workspace
- Create "box" like images and display them using the operators
Constant
Pad
Display Image.
Let one of the images be a vertical rectangle of certain width and
the other a horizontal rectangle of certain height.
- Take the forward Fourier transform of both images using
FFT and display the results.
- Extract the portion of the images containing meaningful information
and perform the magnitude operation on them. Use the operators
Extract and
Magnitudes. Also, display and plot
your results using Display Image
and 2D Plot.
- Determine the statistics and print the data to the display by
using the following operators:
Statistics,
Print Data, and
File Viewer.
Exercises
- Therefore, what is bandwidth?
- Perform a similar experiment by modifying the width, heigth or both
dimensions of a rectangular image.
- Instead of a box, create your own image and perform a similar experiment.
